Completion of Edmiston House, located immediately alongside Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, saw Sharkey deliver a highly sustainable, state-of-the-art facility for Rangers Football Club’s supporters. Undertaken on a design and build basis, the 25,200 sqft two-storey building houses a large retail store, a club museum and a flexible conference and events space for use on match days and beyond.
The exterior of the building, designed to reflect Govan’s historic links to the shipbuilding industry, features elements such as textured, black anodised aluminium cladding and industrial scale entrance doors and the development significantly reduces its environmental impact through the use of recycled materials and the incorporation of renewable energy systems.
Close proximity to nearby residential properties posed a number of challenges during construction, but constant monitoring by our experienced site team during activities such as piling works, ensured that neither residents, nor staff or visitors to the stadium were subject to any disruption during the contract works.
With a building that provides a striking modern contrast to the iconic adjacent main stand, we were pleased to successfully deliver a project that underlines the commitment of our client to continue to build for the future whilst celebrating the Club’s historic past.
